North Las Vegas Police are calling an officer-involved shooting by a member of their SWAT team an "accidental discharge."
The police have released the results of their investigation into the officer-involved shooting on Jan. 2 that involved a driver in his car being shot by SWAT team Sergeant Michael Booker.
The bullet entered the car, striking the driver in his foot, police said.
The driver was taken to University Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries and later released.
The SWAT team was responding to a barricade in the 2200 block of Statz Street, near Carey Avenue and Belmont Street. The car was traveling near the Sgt. Booker's position when the shooting happened.
Booker remains on administrative leave. The Department is conducting an internal administrative review of the shooting and will determine the action taken by the Chief of Police.
