Man arrested for causing baby's death

North Las Vegas Police have arrested a man for allegedly causing the death of a child. Stephen Gayles, 26, was arrested after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

According to North Las Vegas police, on Dec. 04, 2016, at about 6:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Appaloosa Hills, in response to a call of a small child who wasn't breathing.

After paramedics arrived at the scene, they transported a 10-month-old baby to UMC Pediatrics for treatment, but the child died. Further investigation indicated that the child, whose identity hasn't been released, was being cared for by the Gayles when he stopped breathing.

The Coroner's Office will release the identity of the baby boy at a later date, along with the cause and manner of death.
