Man arrested for allegedly killing man in neighborhood near Civic Center and Carey Avenue

North Las Vegas detectives have arrested a man in connection with a homicide that occurred in a neighborhood near Civic Center Drive and E. Carey Avenue.

Thursday afternoon 31-year-old Alonzo Serrano was arrested in the 3300 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard. Police said on Sept. 2 he shot and killed a 29-year-old man near Cartier Avenue and Bruce Street.

Officers found the man down in the roadway around 5:18 a.m. Officers said the 29-year-old was shot multiple times while he was walking on the sidewalk. However, once police arrived at the scene, there was no suspect in sight.

Serrano was booked for murder with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person (an ex-felon) at the Las Vegas City Jail.
