Tickets On Sale for Michael Jordan Golf Tournament

 

Tickets are on sale now for the 12th annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational at Shadow Creek Golf Course in North Las Vegas.

The tournament will be April 4 through the 7 and is being hosted by Aria Resort & Casino. This is the third year that the tournament has been held in the Las Vegas valley.

The event will again feature some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment, along with special events all to raise money for several charities, including Make-A-Wish Foundation, James R. Jordan Foundation, Opportunity Village and Cats Care.

A daily general admission pass is $30. A weekly VIP pass is $500. Discounted tickets available for members of the military, seniors and college or university students with valid ID.

RMI Collecting Cell Phone for Troops

 

RMI Management, a property management company, collected 255 cell phones statewide for the Cell Phones for Soldiers program. 

In July, RMI Management began collecting gently used cell phones to be recycled. The proceeds from the recycled phones are being used to purchase calling cards for U.S. soldiers deployed overseas. 

RMI Management will continue to collect cell phones for the Cell Phones for Soldiers program on a continual basis. Gently used, late-model cell phones are preferred. However, any type of cell phone from any carrier may be donated. 

Phones can be dropped off at the following locations: 

  • 630 Trade Center Drive, Suite 100, in Las Vegas
  • 7951 Deer Springs Way, Suite 170, in North Las Vegas

There is just a few days left to donate toys to the children of Nellis Air Force Base.

Aliante Casino and Hotel is collecting toys for the children of the men and women serving our country at Nellis. The drive is accepting new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages.

They are also accepting donations of clothing, gift cards, and beauty products for teenagers.

Drop-off locations are located at the front desk and the Rewards Center. The toy drive will go through Friday.

NLV Officers Take Kids Shopping

Officers from the North Las Vegas Police Department took children in need of some holiday cheer, shopping Wednesday has part of their annual Shop with a Cop event.

Officers who volunteered to be personal shoppers accompanied 52 children at the Target store at Craig Road and Clayton Street. Thanks to generous donations from North Las Vegas businesses and citizens, each child had more than $200 to spend.

Free school supplies will be handed out Saturday at a back-to-school fair.

The annual Ward 5 back-to-school fair and community celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Doolittle Community Center, 1950 N. J St. 

Wristbands for children ages 5 to 12 will be distributed at 8:30 a.m., and school supplies will be handed out while supplies last, beginning at 9 a.m.

A local physical therapy practice recently took part in a large scholarship effort put on by the Latin Chamber of Commerce.

The Latin Chamber of Commerce awarded $107,000 in scholarships to 128 Clark County students from 20 area schools. The scholarships were presented to graduating high school students in financial need at the chamber’s 27th Annual Scholarship Luncheon on May 23 at the South Point.

Matt Smith Physical Therapy was a contributing sponsor of scholarships given to Alejandra Acosta of Rancho High School, Chloe Nieves of Silverado High School and Vilma Silva of Cheyenne High School. Each was awarded a scholarship to attend UNLV to continue her education in health care.

Each student will mentor with a Matt Smith professional during their undergraduate career and will be eligible to renew their scholarship if they meet GPA requirements.
