The Salvation Army Renovates Homeless Shelter

The Salvation Army of Southern Nevada started work on a new emergency homeless shelter in North Las Vegas.

The charity is rehabbing a 12,500 square-foot building in the Lied Social Service Campus, 35 W. Owens Avenue. The renovations will provide the shelter with a new roof, improved locker and shower facilities and room for more beds. Construction is set to be finished by April. The homeless will be able to use the facility while it is under construction.

The money for the project came from Nevada Women’s Philanthropy.  The nonprofit has provided $2.1 million to 11 local groups since it was first created in 2006.
