Mayweather Contributes to New Habitat for Humanity Project

Champion boxer Floyd Mayweather presented a check Tuesday to Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas to help with a new project that is set to start in June.

The project called Blitz Build 2012 will give a deserving family of five a new home in just five days. The house will be in the Vegas Heights area of North Las Vegas. Floyd contributed $50,000 to the effort.

"We truly appreciate Floyd's support in helping us to reach our mission of providing simple, decent, affordable homes for working families through Las Vegas," executive director Meg Delor said. "Habitat for Humanity's continuing efforts in neighborhoods such as Vegas Heights helps ensure that these communities will stabilize for everyone living there and bring new working families into the community."

The family is required to meet income requirements and provide 300 hours of volunteer labor into their house. The nonprofit is working to qualify 22 more families in southern Nevada for new homes.
