Several Events Planned to Celebrate Halloween

The city of North Las Vegas is offering several different activities to celebrate Halloween.

The Alexander Library, 1755 W. Alexander Road, will host a Spooky Things Storytime at 10:30 a.m., Saturday. The books will focus on skeletons and spiders. Following the story, kids will be able to make a Frankenstein-inspired craft. The event is open to kids of all ages.

Children as young as infants can be part of the Fun for Baby Ghouls and Goblins at the Aliante Library, 2400 W. Deer Springs Way. The event starts at 1 p.m., Wednesday and 11 a.m., Thursday. Kids will get to enjoy Halloween stories and activities that aren’t too scary.

Kids can celebrate Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, at the Alexander Library Thursday. Each participant will get a pre-made sugar skull to decorate with paint and sequins. The craft is expected to take 45 minutes. It starts at 4:30 p.m.

North Las Vegas Police is partnering with La Bonita Supermarket and the Luz Coalition to host a Trunk-or-Treat. The event starts at 6 p.m., Friday, October 28 at La Bonita, 2672 Las Vegas Boulevard North. Kids can go from one decorated car to the next in a safe environment. The event is free to the public.

The police department will also host a Safe Halloween on October 31. It is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Home Depot parking lot near Craig Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard. There will be live entertainment and, of course, candy.
