Thursday morning, dozens of executive chefs from across the Las Vegas valley served up a food and fun for kids who need it most at Fitzgerald Elementary School in North Las Vegas.

The chefs, along with volunteers from Nellis Air Force Base, made and served oatmeal, fresh-squeezed orange juice and waffles. It is all part of the Chefs for Kids program to help alleviate hunger and help kids learn about healthy lifestyle choices.

"Some of them don't get proper food or nutrition at home, so it gives them a good meal to start off their day," Jamba Juice owner Chef Michael Ty said.

The chefs also pay for nutritionists to visit the schools at no cost to the Clark County School District.

The program is holding its annual fundraising gala starting at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and silent auction and at 7 p.m. a gourmet dinner and live auction March 29 at the Paris, Las Vegas.
