Firefighters Build Ramp for Homebound Couple

The North Las Vegas Fire Department stepped up to help a couple in need.

The department teamed with workers from Home Depot to build a wheelchair ramp at the home of Ben and Lucille Gonzalez. The Gonzalez family couldn't attend a pancake breakfast hosted by the fire department because they didn't have a wheelchair ramp at their home. When the firefighters heard about the problem, they decided to do what they could make Mr. Gonzales more mobile.    Home Depot donated all the building materials for the ramp. Ben Gonzales is a veteran. He was awarded the purple heart for his service in the Korean War. They say having the ramp will give them their independence back.
