Police Search for Serial Robber

North Las Vegas Police are asking for help in identifying a man they say has robbed three different businesses in just the past few weeks.

Police say the suspect is armed and extremely dangerous. The first incident happened on June 20 at the Family Dollar Store on North Simmons Street. The suspect approached the store after it had closed. He fired one round from his gun into the front of the store, came into the store, took the bag of cash from the register and fled on foot.

The second incident happened at the 7-11 Store on North Losee Road. Police say the suspect entered the convenience store at around 2 a.m. on June 25. He pointed a gun at two customers inside the store demanded their money and cell phones. Then he pointed his gun at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register.

North Las Vegas Inmates Released

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The North Las Vegas Detention Center is slowly dwindling. Two dorms closed this year. Two more closed last year. This week, 21 corrections officers were laid off and 87 inmates were released early. The inmates released were convicted of minor, non-violent offenses.

"The purpose of a jail is to make sure that crime and public safety are dealt with. If you have people committing crime within the city, they need to be dealt with," North Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge Sean Hoeffgen said.

Hoeffgen signed off on the inmates' release. He says not just anybody was let out.

"They were asking (for) 115, 120 to be released. Only 87 were released," he said. "Typically, we were looking for people that don't have a case with domestic violence or temporary protection orders (or) if there was a DUI case."

The search is on for a man who beat two women with a tire iron then robbed them.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police the crime happened May 25 at around 1:30 in the morning. Police said the suspects were getting a ride home from a local business with the suspect and his friends. When the group got to the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Vegas Drive the two women asked to be let out. According to the police report that's when the suspect became angry at the victims, he stopped the car, starting hitting one of the women with his fists, then got a tire iron from the trunk and started attacking the other victim. He then beat the first victim with a tire iron as well. He eventually took the women's purses and left in his car.

Metro Police need help identifying a man suspected of two late-night robberies in March.

At approximately 3:20 a.m. on March 20, the man robbed a business in the area of Smoke Ranch and Rancho. At approximately 3:27 a.m., he then robbed a second business in the area of Smoke Ranch and Decatur.

The man walked in, ordered the clerk to get behind the counter and then demanded all the money in the registers. The suspect stated he had kids he needed to feed and said, "Thanks for the robbery" as he left.

The suspect is described as a black man, 20-30 years old, 5-foot-8, 160-175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, blue bandana over his face and blue jeans. He was carrying a handgun. 

Police Seek Second Person of Interest for North Las Vegas Murder

NORTH LAS VEGAS -- North Las Vegas Police seek a second person of interest in the murder of a 20-year-old man Wednesday night.

Detectives wish to question 18-year-old Danny Pollard, Jr.. Pollard stands 6'0" and weighs 160lbs. He is known to frequent the area of Carey Road and Revere Street.

Detectives arrested 17-year-old Ryan Mcallister, Jr. Thursday for the victim's death. Mcallister was booked at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center for one count of murder with a deadly weapon.

Police say Mcallister and the victim knew each other and had been in an ongoing confrontation. Police say the victim went to Mcallister's home on Red Sox Avenue Wednesday night. Mcallister shot and killed the victim as he approached the home, according to police. Mcallister fled the scene after the incident.

North Las Vegas Police handed out hundreds of citations to drivers and pedestrians who were not obeying traffic laws.

On Friday, police were out in force along major streets in the city looking for drivers and people on foot who were not following crosswalk laws. In all they gave out 98 failure to yield citations to both drivers and pedestrians. Other tickets were given out for seat belt, speeding, registration and insurance violations.  

The campaign was made possible by a traffic safety grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety. 

NLV Police Raid Suspected Drug Home

NORTH LAS VEGAS -- North Las Vegas Police and Swat Team members raided a house on Satellite Ave. near Martin Luther King Blvd. and W. Craig Rd. Wednesday afternoon.

Police say they removed dozens of marijuana plants and other grow house equipment from the home and took one person into custody.
