Young Author Shows Off Talent to Friends at Tartan Elementary | Education & Schools
A student turned author showed off her talents during a special reading for Nevada Reading Week.
Bailey Scow was just 5 years old when she created "Bluebell's Surprise," a book about a butterfly's efforts to find a birthday flower for her best friend Bluebell, a bird.
"She started working on a story about flowers because she loves flowers and went through the whole writing process. She did many drafts and did her research about flowers," Bailey's mother Julie Scow said.
Bailey won the 2011 Vegas PBS Kids Go! writers contest in the kindergarten age group.
The young author read her book to her peers at Tartan Elementary School. She also signed some copies and donated them to the school library.
"Hopefully, it inspires other kids to do the same thing and too work hard and share their talents with others," the writer's mother said.
