Students at one southern Nevada high school were recognized for completing a new financial education program.
Students at Mojave High School in North Las Vegas were honored for completing the $mart Program Wednesday. The program is being launched in 14 other high schools around the Clark County School District. More than 3,000 students will be part of it.
It is a web-based program that uses video, animations, 3D gaming and social networking to teach students the basics of finances and to improve financial skills.
“My college life is going to be a lot of money. What I learned is to budget my money so I am not going to be in debt at the end of my college life,” Mojave High School senior Daniel Dares Deras said.
The company Ever-Fi designed the computer program. CitiBank and the United Way of Southern Nevada are helping fund the program.
