Liberty Tax Services Hosts Relay for Life Benefit

This weekend, Liberty Tax services will be hosting a roadside benefit in honor of Relay for Life. There will be free tax advice, prizes for the kids, and food, music, and refreshments. Kids can keep entertained by the clown, bouncy castle, and raffles while Mom and Dad get the taxes completed, and $10 of every tax return filed on Saturday will go towards Relay for Life.

The Relay for Life fundraiser will take place out side of Liberty Tax  Service, 1311 W Craig Road, suite B, North Las Vegas, NV

Guns N Hoses Charity Hockey Tournament Saturday, March 26, 2011

This year's Guns N' Hoses charity hockey match, where the Las Vegas Police Ice Hockey Team battles the Las Vegas Fire Department Ice Hockey Team, will be held March 26th. The game will benefit the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada. Tickets will be $10 per ticket for adults, with children under 12 attending for free.

St. PETrick’s Day fundraiser benefiting The Animal Foundation March 20th

This Sunday, swing by the Aliante station to celebrate St. PETrick's Day, a fundraiser to benefit The Animal Foundation, the non-profit responsible for running the Lied Animal Shelter. The party kicks off at 2pm, and will feature craft beer tastings and vegetarian cuisine. Raffles will be ongoing throughout the event, and The Animal Foundation will bring along a number of dog that are able to be adopted. Tickets for St. PETrick's Day start at $10.

NLVPD vs USAF Thunderbirds Charity Softball Game

This Saturday March 12th at noon, the officers of the North Las Vegas Police will face-off against the United States Air Force Thunderbirds in the 8th annual charity softball game. The event will include performances by the NLVPD Honor Guard and K-9 team, autograph signings by the USAF Thunderbirds, on-site food vendors, and a raffle. 

The game will take place at at Mojave High School, located at 5302 Goldfield Street. All proceeds from the event are donated to the Raul Elizondo Elementary School, named in honor of North Las Vegas Police Officer Raul Elizondo, who was killed in the line of duty in 1995. This annual fund-raising effort serves to remember Officer Elizondo's commitment to our community. Last year's event raised just over $1,600 used by the school to improve their library.

Centennial Hills Rotary Club Hosting Clothing Swap Fundraiser March 12th

Centennial Hills Rotary Club would like to invite the community to attend their second annual Clothing Swap Fundraiser tomorrow, March 12th. With the clothing Swap, people are encouraged to empty out their closets of the women's and children's clothing, accessories, coats, shoes, and jewelery they don't wear and are still in good condition, and bring it down to the swap. Everyone will then be able to exchange their items for someone else's. It costs $20 to participate in the swap.

The Clothing Swap will take place at the Silverstone Golf Course Club House, 8600 Cupp Drive, Las Vegas Nevada, from 9am to 4pm, and will benefit Safe Nest and Dress for Success.

The People's Debate: 10 Candidates for Mayor

Tomorrow evening, at the Santa Fe Station, 10 of the Candidates for Mayor will be participating in the People's Debate. The debate will be moderated by Steve Sebelius, and is being co-hosted by the Nevada Conservation League, the Spring Mountain Ranch Master Association, the North Valley Democratic Club, the Conservative Alliance for Community Growth, the Stonewall Democrats of Southern Nevada, LOGRAR, and Northwest Residents for Responsible Growth.

Doors will be opening at 4:30 pm, and the debate is scheduled fro 6pm to 8pm. It will take place in Centennial Room A of the Santa Fe Station Casino, 4949 North Rancho Drive, Las Vegas, NV.

Middle School and High School Students Sought for Rubik’s Cube Competition

The Las Vegas Science Festival is looking for teams of middle and high school students to compete in the Rubik's Cube Competition! The Competition is open to all Clark and Nye County Schools, be them public, private, religious, or home, with teams divided into two divisions, Division 1 for grades 6-8 and Division 2 for grades 9-12. the competition will have teams competing to solve 25 Rubik's Cubes. Registration is free, and the winning teams will get a cash prize!
