RTC Launch Express Service to VA Medical Center

The new multi-million dollar Veterans Medical Center opens Tuesday and starting next week the Regional Transportation Commission has launched an express way to get to the center from downtown Las Vegas.

The RTC started a commuter bus route from downtown to the facility in North Las Vegas August 14. Right now, the medical center is outside the RTC’s fixed-route, residential service area. However, the transportation commission worked with the Veterans Affairs Southern Nevada Healthcare System to offer the transportation option.

The new express line, known as DVX, will offer limited-stop service between the Bonneville Transit Center, a new park and ride location at the Cannery Casino & Hotel and the VA Medical Center. The new service will offer free rides from August 26 through September 1. After September 1, the fare rates will be $2 for a one-way ride.

DVX will operate seven days a week from 5 a.m. to midnight. The Regional Transportation Commission is coordinating with other transportation provides to make sure the route will accommodate RTC Americans with Disabilities Act Paratransit riders.
