NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) -- A pedestrian is dead after police say he walked in front of an ambulance in North Las Vegas.

Police say the man was not in a crosswalk when he was struck about 8 p.m. Sunday on East Lake Mead Boulevard. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he later died.

The 26-year-old ambulance driver and a 22-year-old passenger were not injured. Police say alcohol doesn't appear to be a factor on their part.

Authorities are investigating whether the pedestrian was under the influence. His identify and age have not yet been released.

The death marks the third fatal crash and the first pedestrian fatality this year in North Las Vegas.
