New Hotel to Open in North Las Vegas | News
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Things aren't all doom and gloom in North Las Vegas. The city is seeing some signs of growth. Later this month, a brand new hotel will open its doors.
The SpringHill Suites Las Vegas North Speedway on Craig Road near Interstate 15 is scheduled to open June 22. With Nellis Air Force Base and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway nearby, the hotel hopes to serve racing enthusiasts, as well as military members and their families.
"This is a great opportunity for North Las Vegas with the economy and being able to support the North Las Vegas metropolitan area," said SpringHill Suites General Manager Kathy Sotello.
8 News NOW received a tour of the 94-suite property which is owned by Marriott. The company says this new hotel is ideal for business and leisure travelers.
Craig Road is incredibly busy with traffic - from airmen headed to Nellis to racers headed to the Speedway. Traffic is expected to pick up some more.
Neighboring businesses like Whiskey Dick's, a gaming bar and restaurant within walking distance from the new SpringHill Suites, are excited about their new neighbor.
"Of course, it's going to bring a lot of new traffic in the area, as well as new faces and people coming in," said Whiskey Dick's General Manager Will Glenn. "The more traffic we have, the more revenue. Maybe we can get this city back thriving in the community again."
The hotel is a multi-million dollar investment in North Las Vegas. The financially-strained city will benefit in a big way from the taxes this Marriott franchise will bring.
Not only have new employees been hired at the hotel, but all the subcontractors were local. Workers are currently putting finishing touches on the property. Rates start at $104 a night, and the hotel is scheduled to open June 22.
