LAS VEGAS -- North Las Vegas Police arrested an 18-year-old man Friday in connection with two robberies and an attempted kidnapping.
Police identified the suspect as Javonn Ricky Caver, who was booked in the Las Vegas jail on charges of assault with a weapon, robbery and kidnapping in the second degree.
According to police, a woman told officers who were responding to a call about a robbery the evening of July 8 that a man approached her while pointing a gun at her.
The woman, who was pumping gas at the time, was told to get into her car. She told police the man threatened to shoot her if she didn't follow his commands.
The woman ran away and the man took off in her car, police said.
While heading west on Cheyenne Avenue, the man crashed into two other cars on the Interstate-15 overpass. Witnesses told police the man got out of the car he wrecked and tried to stop another car. A woman driving a Toyota stopped and, pointing the gun at her, the man ordered her out of her car.
The man then took off in the car, which was later found.
Caver was arrested early Friday afternoon near West Lake Mead and Losee Road. Officers stopped Caver walking down the street and took him into custody without incident, police said.
