Driving You Crazy: Dangerous Area in North Las Vegas | News

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. - A viewer wants to know why there is no crosswalk, sidewalks or traffic light near Tropical Parkway and Losee Road – forcing hundreds of children to walk along a dirt path and dodge heavy traffic.
The area was hit hard by the economy. Much is still undeveloped land, and developers of adjacent property are responsible for constructing roadways and sidewalks that serve their developments. That's not happening – resulting in pedestrian dirt pathways rather than sidewalks.
It's one thing not having a sidewalk for students to walk on, but no permanent traffic light or crosswalk creates a dangerous situation for kids looking to cross the street.
Traffic8 contacted officials with North Las Vegas, and they provided a positive answer. A temporary traffic light will be gone within a year. The city plans to install a permanent traffic signal at the intersection of Tropical Parkway and Losee Road with a traditional crosswalk.
