Acts of Kindness: Paul Miles
News

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Paul Miles logs four to six miles every morning in his North Las Vegas neighborhood.

"When I started walking five years ago, I had seen all this, and I thought I can't pass it by,” he said.

Trash piled up along the roadway. So, he started doing something about it.

"Some days, I have four, five, six bags, and I carry a big bag in my pocket. Sometimes, I fill that up," he said.

Miles joined the U.S. Navy in 1954. Almost 40 years later, he landed in Las Vegas to work at the Nevada Test Site.

Now retired, he does his part to beautify his neighborhood.

"I don't know if it makes much of an impact, but that's what I do,” he said.

His neighbors say he leaves a lasting impact.

"I worked at the Arizona memorial with volunteer veterans on ships. I knew he was on a ship in the war. I felt he deserves this. He beautifies our neighborhood, beautiful man, inside and out,” said Miles' neighbor Jeanne Brase.

"You keep trash off of this, property values are higher, crime goes down believe it or not. It's proven,” Miles said.
