Suspects in 13 North Las Vegas Burglaries Arrested

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Three people are under arrest in connection with a string of at least 13 home burglaries in North Las Vegas, city police officials announced Tuesday.

Shawnquinte Hall, Dexter Smith and Malisha Williams, all North Las Vegas residents, were booked on a variety of felony and misdemeanor charges.

A two-month investigation led investigators to two North Las Vegas apartment complexes. Search warrants were obtained and served at apartments located at 6551 McCarran Street and 2655 Deer Springs Avenue.

Investigators recovered more than 150 stolen items including televisions, video games, electronics, jewelry, collectible sports memorabilia, and firearms.

A significant amount of property, including nine firearms, was recovered in the arrests. Officers also seized marijuana and materials used to package the drug for sale, and Smith and Williams were charged in relation to the drugs.

Missing North Las Vegas Woman Found

North Las Vegas, Nev., -- North Las Vegas police have found a missing 30-year-old woman who was last seen at her home on September 26.

Alfreda Barlow left her home without her phone, identification, wallet, money or medication. Barlow was last seen wearing a white, short sleeve blouse and blue jean shorts.

Police say she has a history of erratic behavior and was described by a family member as schizophrenic.

Fatal Morning Crash Shuts Down Decatur Blvd.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- North Las Vegas police closed Decatur Boulevard in both directions following a fatal two-vehicle crash Friday morning.

The crash happened at the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Lone Mountain Road. An 80-year-old woman was transported to UMC where she later died. Police do not believe drugs and alcohol are factors in this incident.  

This is the 8th fatal crash in North Las Vegas this year.  

North Vegas City Employee Arrested in Theft Case

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev.  -- Police in North Las Vegas say a veteran city customer service supervisor has been arrested and suspended from her job after she was accused of siphoning utility bill funds for her own use.

Police say customer accounts were properly credited, but that 40-year-old Angela Bozarth is accused of pocketing money before it reached the bank.

Bozarth was arrested Thursday on a felony theft charge after an internal review showed that money was missing. Police say she was booked at the North Las Vegas jail and released. Her court date wasn't immediately available, and it wasn't clear Friday if she had a lawyer.

Police say Bozarth has been with the utilities department for 11 years. She's on paid leave pending the outcome of the criminal case.

NLV Police Investigate Stabbing

NORTH LAS VEGAS -- North Las Vegas police are investigating a stabbing that happened in the 1900 block of Lawry Street between Lake Mead Boulevard and MLK shortly before 6 a.m. Friday.

Police tell 8 News NOW that a 44-year-old male victim was found in the street and was transported to UMC in serious condition. Police do have a suspect in custody.

North Las Vegas Police Bust Family Burglary Ring

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- North Las Vegas police have busted a burglary ring that was a family affair involving two parents and four teens.

Forty-eight-year-old Gwendolen Jackson and her husband 46-year-old Karl Cage are accused of hocking stolen goods at local pawn shops. Investigators say 18-year-old suspects Xavier Quarles, Ricky Burns, and Clarence Rose -- along with a juvenile -- first did the dirty work, stealing the items from unlocked cars.

They were just going down the street and checking doors. If the car was locked, they kept going. If the car was unlocked, they went in and took whatever they could," North Las Vegas Police Sgt. Tim Bedwell.

Bedwell says one of the accused young men is Jackson's son. Authorities say the thieves targeted the area of N. 5th Street and Ann Road, stealing items worth thousands of dollars.

North Las Vegas Utilities Worker Arrested

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The North Las Vegas Police Department has arrested a city employee for allegedly stealing money from customers' utility bills.

Police say 40-year-old Angela Bozarth would steal money received in utility bill payments after applying the payments to customer accounts. Police say the accounts were not affected by the alleged theft.

Authorities arrested Bozarth after a two-week investigation. She has been placed on administrative leave. She faces one felony count of theft.
