NLV City Hall Named Public Works Project of the Year | Public Spaces
The controversial new city hall in North Las Vegas has been named the Public Works Project of the Year by the American Public Works Association.
The North Las Vegas City Hall and Civic Plaza at 2250 Las Vegas Boulevard North opened in November last year. The 210,000 square-foot building brought most city services under one roof.
Criteria for the award included construction management, on-schedule completion, safety performance, community relations, environmental protection, quality control and money management. The project was originally budgeted at $142 million. It was finished for $21 million under budget.
Critics have said the city should not have spent the money on a new city hall while the city was in financial trouble.
