Action sport competition planned for Craig Ranch Park

North Las Vegas is teaming up with professional BMX rider Ricardo Laguna for the inaugural Craig Ranch Action Sports Competition.

The event will be from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 at Craig Ranch Regional Park, 628 West Craig Road.

The competition is open to amateur BMX, skateboard and scooter riders from around southern Nevada. The top three finishers from the competition will get a chance to compete in the Home Town Heroes exhibition set for Fremont Street Sept. 1.  

People interested in competing should sign up quickly because only the first 50 registrants will be able to compete. Pre-registration, which is until 3 p.m. Aug. 29, will cost $15. On-site registration is $20.

Besides the competition, the event will also feature professional demonstrations, music and food vendors.

Admission to view the event is $2 per person.

The Craig Ranch Regional Park skate park will be closed at 4 p.m. for the event.
