LAS VEGAS -- It was a memorable weekend for Canyon Springs High School running back Donnel Pumphrey.

He's a rising talent that produced incredible results with 347 yards rushing and five touchdowns in a 47-6 win over Foothill.

His touchdown runs were big plays of 91, 73, 70, 57, and 41 yards.

"I just see holes and I hit them," said Pumphrey.

His football talent has attracted interest from Oregon and UCLA. Pumphrey has already verbally committed to San Diego State, but under the guidance of his head coach, it's off the field where he's made his biggest strides.

"He's active in the student council, he's active in the student body, you know, and those are the leaders on this campus, so not only does he lead on the football field and work hard, he's doing it in the classroom," said Hunkie Cooper, Canyon Springs head coach.

People that know Pumphrey are unaware of his hidden talent, singing.

"Everyone thinks I can sing a little bit," he adds.

The Canyon Springs football team is lucky to have Pumphrey's talent as they look to have a memorable 2012 season.
