North Las Vegas Police Crackdown on Crosswalks

North Las Vegas Police were out in forced Thursday, looking for people not obeying crosswalk rules.

The crackdown was from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Officers targeted mid-block crosswalks in some of the busiest traffic areas of North Las Vegas. They started at the intersection of Craig Road and Ferrell Street and then moved around the city.

According to police, they looked for three types of people: drivers who failed to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, drivers who passed cars already stopped for pedestrians and pedestrians who didn't use a crosswalk.

The event was part of the department’s efforts during the first week of school reminding drivers and pedestrians to pay attention to their surroundings.
