Major Detour on 215 at North 5th Street

A major detour of the I-215 beltway in the northern part of the valley will divert traffic for up to six months.

Starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, Clark County Public Works will divert all westbound traffic for six months along the 215 at North 5th Street between Losee Road and Aliante Parkway.

Both westbound travel lanes will be redirected onto the new North 5th Street ramps to get traffic off and on the main-line beltway. No westbound access will be provided to North 5th Street to the south, to and from the beltway.

The portion of westbound and eastbound mainline beltway between the North 5th Street exit, and North 5th Street on ramps will be closed to vehicular traffic in order to construct the North 5th Street Bridge.

Eastbound traffic will remain diverted to the North 5th Street ramps. Access will continue to be provided at all times for North 5th Street to the south, to and from the eastbound Beltway.

Construction on the beltway is part of an $11.8 million project that completes the interchange at North 5th Street. Meadow Valley Contractors, Inc. is contracted to perform the work, which is expected to be completed by the fall of 2011.
