Police Join in National Seat Belt Enforcement

North Las Vegas Police are joining in with a national effort to enforce seat belt laws.

The Click it or Ticket campaign starts on Sunday in North Las Vegas. Police will be out at the busiest streets in the city looking for people who are not wearing their seat belts and at intersections with a history of multiple crashes. People caught not wearing their seat belt will get a $72 fine. People with children in the car who are not properly restrained will face a $192 fine.

Nevada state law requires children under 6 years-old or 60 pounds to  be restrained in a car or booster seat. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recommends children sit in the back seat until they're 12.
