Photo Gallery | Canine Cancer Survivor Competes in DockDogs
A dog that has survived cancer will show off his skills during a competition this weekend at the Cannery Casino in North Las Vegas.
Rex, a 6-year-old Belgian Malinois, will be one of hundreds of dogs competing in the DockDogs Western Regional Championships. Rex survived cancer and is a previous world champion in the fast growing sport.
DockDogs is a performance sport where dogs compete in a series of dock jumping and dock diving competitions, including running down a 40-foot dock and diving into a pool of water, while they try to catch an object and a high jump competition where they leap to catch an object suspended above a pool of water.
The competition will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. There is even a splash zone area near the big pool used in the competition where kids can stand and get cooled off by the water splashed out when the dogs jump.
